Before launching her professional career with social media in the year 2019 she was an avid dancer, who competed for more than 10 years. She started posting videos of dance performances to the online video platform TikTok. In March of 2020, she became the most liked creator of the TikTok platform. Khaby Lame surpassed her in July 2022. D'Amelio's voice debut came in the animation of 2020 StarDog TurboCat. Since 2021, she has been a participant in the Hulu Docuseries The D'Amelio and Snap Original Charli vs. Dixie. In 2022, D'Amelio took part as a participant in a celebrity competition and went on to win together with Mark Ballas, in the thirty-first season of dance contest series Dancing with the Stars. Other projects include two books and a podcast. She also has a nail polish collection, a mattress, a cosmetic line, clothing line, as well as an enterprise that offers multiple products. The first person to enjoy both 100 and 50 million TikTok followers. D'Amelio is the highest-earning TikTok female on the app in 2019, as well as the top-earning person for the app in 2022, as reported by Forbes. She is often described as TikTok's top star.
